1966 Dodge Coronet Deluxe Pasadena Police Car Photography
This 1966 Dodge Coronet Deluxe is a true police package (K designation) car built in Detroit and used in Washington State as a police car.
When I acquired it, I restored it to Pasadena Police specifications with custom made light platter and B&M siren exactly as used at that time.
It was built with a 318 Cl Poly, 230HP engine and 727 transmission as a full police package car.
When I joined the Pasadena Police Department in December 1967, these were the patrol cars in use and it was the last black and white configuration, as in
1968 PPD went to all white cars. Black and white returned in the 80's to PPD.
The "Hot Sheet" displayed on the dash is a list of stolen cars in Los Angeles County and is dated November 1966... before computers, we checked cars for being stolen by seeing if the license plate was on the list.
My ticket book is on the dash, my baton, flashlight, portable radio, vehicle code book, hand cuffs, signal box keys, notebook and clip board with forms are on the seat.
My "Ike" jacket displays Policeman badge 600 l had made and wore on duty one day.
The name plate is my Dad's who was a San Gabriel Police Lieutenant.
This very old school car is the only known example in the entire world.
The license plate in the photo of an actual PPD car was reproduced for this car.
The Badge 56 in the photo is my first badge. The 2nd is my retirement badge.
